Simply Christmas

Do you remember as a kid how exciting Christmas time was? I do! I was so excited for christmas break. We'd play outside, play games (lots of Monopoly), help mom make Christmas cookies. We also went Christmas caroling with our church!! It was so fun. We'd make up plates of cookies and bundle up in our warm winter gear, pack into cars and head off to the old peoples homes and sing them Christmas carols. Then on the way back to the cars we'd have huge snow fights!! We'd finally end up at someone's house for snacks and hot chocolate!

We also made sure we remembered what Christmas was really about... rejoicing that God sent us his Son. One of our families traditions was to read the Christmas story and each of us picked our favorite carol to sing before we opened our presents. I want to make it a priority that our boys know the real meaning of Christmas!

I also need to learn to keep the simplicity of Christmas. It is so easy to get caught up in all the busyness and commercialization and forget to slow down and enjoy the season and remember the real reason for the season!!

Merry Christmas to all!!!

Hey Kendra!
I went looking for your blog today and I found it! :-) Very good stuff...I'm impressed with how honest and open your thoughts are. I have no problem with that in real life but I shy away from it at times on my blog. Isn't that strange? Anyway I like it! Well done! It was so fun hanging out with you guys last night. Thanks!
I don't know if you can get to my blog because I set it to private so here's the address: deeniebeckett.blogspot.com
